Any organisation’s activity is and must be framed by a set of rules. The IFHEMA’s By-Laws, not only sets the organisation’s objectives, procedures, bodies, member rights and obligations, etc., but further allow us to work on the development and enlargement of IFHEMA, to construct a meaningful international community on a somewhat formalised level.

On 24 September 2023, an Extraordinary General Assembly adopted a change to the former IFHEMA By-Laws, to the effect that countries with several representative federations of coalitions of HEMA-practitioning groups would be able to join IFHEMA on an equal par with countries represented by a single organization, provided they sign a “Memorandum of Understanding” negotiated among them on the basis of an MOU template provided by IFHEMA. This MOU formalizes the ‘sharing a vote’ system which is common practice in democratic country-based international organisations, like the UN.
